ABOUT DEENA

Deena Kilroy grew up in Newport, overlooking Lough Furnace on the west coast of Mayo, in Ireland. Immersed in such stunning raw landscape it is no wonder this artist creates pieces that capture landscape and light.

In her early 20s Deena emigrated to New York where she resided for 15 years, developing a particular interest in streetscapes, which she enjoyed capturing at twilight. Upon returning to Ireland, Deena studied Fine Art and Design at Westport College of Further Education.

Her preferred medium is acrylic and oil paints on wood. She is always experimenting and goes back and forth between abstract oil seascapes to detailed acrylic paintings. A lot of her collection is inspired by light, Deena finds inspiration in the changing lights of the evening and derives inspiration from the breathtaking landscapes around her in the west of Ireland, capturing the joy and beauty in every moment, and expressing appreciation for the natural canvas that surrounds us.

Deena's solo exhibition is in Westport Town Hall Theatre in March, 2023. She has participated in many collaborative exhibitions at the Clew Bay Hotel, Westport and she has exhibited her works in multiple group shows at the Customs House Gallery, Westport.

To date Deena has undertaken several commissioned pieces and has her work in homes all over the world.
